Abstract
- The article discusses the post-war claims filed in the Japanese Court for compensation for damages against the unlawful act committed during the Second World War in Japan. It highlights the classification of cases caused by Japan in violation of International humanitarian law which includes the cases brought by the comfort women system victims who were exploited and treated as sexual slaves, cases relating to forced labor and forced transportation of Chinese or Korean, and cases brought by civilians who suffered from inhuman treatment. It briefly examines the negative attitudes concerning the denied compensation claims in terms of International law and Japanese courts. It notes on the several judgments in which the significant departure from earlier jurisprudence in Japan is represented.
