Abstract

The article presents research notes on the history of the Mexican town of Puerto Peñasco. Details are given highlighting the rapid growth of the village from a relatively isolated fishing community in the 1940s to a popular tourist venue in the early 21st century. Discussion is given describing the geography of the town with analysis of its features and their social implications. Research methodology notes on repeat photography as a technique to chart historical geography are also provided, with particular examples of its use on Puerto Peñasco.
