Abstract
- This essay presents the Mexican philosopher Leopoldo Zea's doctrine of history related to comparative American studies. It also addresses Zea's early work on Mexico and presents his discourse on margination and barbarism in dialogue with philosopher Gloria Anzaldúa's theoretical engagement. The essay concludes with discussions on several theorists who have presented models of comparative American studies compatible with the Southern Theory.
