Abstract

The article posits that die-off events causing a decline in the population of honey bees can be attributed to the prevalence of industrial agriculture. The phenomenon has resulted from viral and bacterial infections, pesticide poisonings and mite infestations that have reduced bee populations to a point where they have begun inbreeding. Humans depend upon honey bees to pollinate crops and promote plant diversity.
