Abstract

The article presents a study that evaluates whether late maturation during adolescence is associated with better muscle function at middle-age. The study found that late-maturing males have better muscle function such as isometric strength and power at middle age than their early-maturing peers. The study notes that this finding suggests that specific attention should be given to improve the muscle function of the early- and the average-maturing middle-aged males. The study did not identify the associations between adolescent biological maturity and muscle function.
