Abstract

The equation of state for five-dimensional hard hyperspheres arising as a weighted average of the Percus-Yevick compressibility ([FRACTION SHAPE="CASE"][NUM]3[/NUM][DEN]5[/DEN][/FRACTION]) and virial ([FRACTION SHAPE="CASE"][NUM]2[/NUM][DEN]5[/DEN][/FRACTION]) equations of state is considered. This Carnahan-Starling-type equation turns out to be extremely accurate, despite the fact that both Percus-Yevick equations of state are rather poor. © 2000 American Institute of Physics.
