Abstract

The article discusses research on malaria vaccine. It references a study by Nirbhay Kumar and colleagues, published in "PLoS ONE." Study authors utilized genetically modified bacteria to make proteins identical to some of those involved in the sexual development of Plasmodium and injected them into mice and baboons. They found that a shot of the vaccine led to a 93 percent decrease in malaria transmission.
