Abstract

The article discusses the study of Kenneth Hill, a psychologist at Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, about the behavior of people when they are lost in the wild. His observations suggested that children under seven years of age have the highest survival rates since they do not form a mental map that may lead to counterproductive efforts to get reoriented. It mentions that based on the study of Rick Toman, director of search and rescue for the state of Massachusetts, autistic children are often fascinated by water.
