Abstract

The article reports on the possibility that the actual number of people around the world that have been infected with the A/H1N1 flu virus could be much higher than official figures. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 12,954 cases of swine influenza had been confirmed in 46 countries and 92 people had died from the virus. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed that the country has had 6,764 swine flu cases. A potential situation has been outlined by WHO director general Margaret Chan.
