El discurso de A Favor de lo Mejor, A.C. un estudio de recepción.

This article presents the results of an evaluation study of the "Course of Critical Reception in Favor of the Better A. C." (a Mexican non-government organization). The experience took place in a little Otomi town (Jesus del Monte) in Michoacan in 2005. Drawing upon the theoretical-methodological perspective of cultural studies, the research used participant observation, group discussion and critical discourse analysis in order to identify and interpret the underlying ideology by a group of Otomi mothers. This focus also revealed the senses meanings given by these mothers to the use and content of the media of communication, as well as the characteristics of their relation -- and that of their school age children -- to them. The final recommendations stress the importance of substituting the communicational structure of the course (designed by an instructional model) for one that would permit the reflection and construction of knowledge on the basis of the rich cultural heritage and experience of the participants.
