Abstract

The article reports on the end of the 77-day strike at Ssangyong Corp. after the union agreed to a revised plan to cut jobs at the South Korean automaker. Under the agreement, the ratio of dismissed workers will be lowered. A loss of 316 billion won was posted by the firm because of the strike. A bankruptcy protection was filed by the firm in February 2009 and its restructuring plan involved cutting of 36% of the workforce which was opposed by the dismissed workers.
