Abstract

The article provides information on the features of quicksands which are commonly found in Gold Coast, Queensland. It mentions that quicksand is also known as "Currumbin" in an Aboriginal language and cites that there are several quicksands in the state, particularly at Tallebudgera and Currumbin creeks. Its grain strength consists of 60% to 70% of sand in terms of volume. Information about how to avoid sinking while being trapped in a quicksand is also noted.
