EPIDEMIOLOGY OF THE EPILEPSIES.

An encyclopedia entry for the epidemiology of epilepsies is presented. This entry looks at epidemiologic studies that provide information on frequency, clinical expression, distribution, incidence, prevalence and mortality rates of epilepsies. It notes the use of analytic epidemiology to confirm hypotheses based on results obtained from descriptive epidemiology.
