Abstract

The article discusses the project of the National Center for Experiments in Television (NCET) which showcases potential forms of video art. Hal Foster describes an archival artist as someone who handles and produces archives in a manner that highlights the nature of all archival materials as constructed, fictive, and private. The NCET project recorded past experiments with particular apparatuses such as James Lastra's observations on technological developments in early sound recording and Stephen Beck's Beck Direct Video Synthesizer.
