Abstract
- Chapter 12 of the book "Manual of Neonatal Surgical Intensive Care," Second Edition, is presented. The chapter discusses the orthopedic abnormalities in newborn infants. The use of ultrasonography may diagnose neural tube defects, congenital scoliosis and other skeletal dysplasias in the prenatal period. The most common musculoskeletal birth trauma is said to be the clavicular fractures, which occur in as many as 5% of all births.
