CHAPTER 10: HYPERTENSION AND WEIGHT LOSS.

Chapter 10 of the book "Advanced Therapy in Hypertension and Vascular Disease" is presented. It discusses weight loss as a lifestyle modification for the prevention and treatment of hypertension. It highlights cross-sectional epidemiologic studies which documented an association between body weight and blood pressure. It notes the involvement of sodium retention and increases in vascular resistance, blood volume and cardiac output in the development of hypertension associated with obesity.
