Abstract

Chapter 5 of the book "The Dystonia Patient: A Guide to Practical Management" is presented. It discusses the role played by speech-language pathologist (SLP) in the evaluation and treatment of dystonia patients. Evaluation exams given to patients by SLPs include clinical swallowing exam and endoscopic swallowing exam. Behavioral treatment strategies performed are application of sensory trick maneuver, use of a bite block and the use of biofeedback.
