Abstract
- The article examines the frequency of extreme values (EVs) of daily rainfall in Sao Paulo, Brazil from 1933-2005 using the peaks-over-threshold (POT) and Generalized Pareto Distribution (GPD) approach. It discusses the use of time-dependent thresholds composed of relatively large quantiles of daily rainfall amounts. According to the article, it is evident that high quantiles of daily rainfall in the city have been increasing in frequency and magnitude over time.
