Abstract

The article presents a study that focuses on the comparison in grasping abilities between adult and young chimpanzees and humans. It examines species and age differences in the use of different grasping strategies. The study reveals the greater variability of contacts and grasping of small objects by young subjects for both species. It also indicates the lower amount of force applied by chimpanzee thumb in a precision grip compared to human.
