Abstract
- The article reports on epidemiological studies on the molecular and physiological basis of sweet taste, which were discussed at the International Symposium on Olfaction and Taste in San Francisco, California, in July 2008. T1R2/T1R3, heterodimeric G protein-coupled receptor, appears to bind to and be activated by most sweet tastants. Speakers in this symposium said that sweet taste may be particularly amenable to perturbation by hormonal and environmental impacts.
