Abstract

The article focuses on the results of the study on first Vilsmeier-Haack synthesis of Flavones with the use of bis-(Trichloromethyl) carbonate/dimethylformamide. It states that flavones are a class of naturally occurring compounds that has several biological activities. It mentions that the Vilmeier-Haack reaction was initially applied for the formulation of activated aromatic substances and carbonyl compounds. It notes that it is applied as a powerful synthetic tool for the structure of many heterocyclic compounds that includes indoles, pyridines, and quinazoline derivatives.
