Abstract
- The article presents a case study of a young woman who faced internal injury following episiotomy. She complained of faeces in the vaginal area because of the failure to diagnose fourth-degree tear causing a recto-vaginal fistula. She underwent three operations to rectify the colostomy and hence filed a complaint with the British National Health Service (NHS). The charges of negligence were proved in the Birmingham County Court, and a settlement of 45,000 pounds plus disbursement was made.
