Abstract

The article reports on data released by the U.S. Federal Reserve which showed that the U.S. commercial paper market declined to a low level in the week ended June 24, 2009. Since the central bank began recording data in 2001, the size of the market is said to be lowest at $1.155 trillion. The contracting economy which has led to fewer spending needs is attributed for the low record. In the previous week, the overall market declined $27.7 billion.
