Abstract
- In this article the author discusses how to improve the U.S.'s lowest-performing schools. He is critical of the states' need to reform schools by adopting kindergarten through grade 12 standards, creating data systems that will track student progress, placing effective teachers in the classrooms where they will have the maximum student impact, and educational improvement plans for low-performing schools. Also investigated are the educational changes made to the Chicago, Illinois school system.
