Abstract

The article focuses on anthropomorphizing in the field of geoscience. James Hutton, father of modern geology, recognized anthropomorphizing when he described the Earth as a super-organism in the late 18th century. It is noted that various geoscience words describe the features and processes of the Earth in terms of the human body and human behavior. Such terms include birth for mountains, Earth's smooth skin to refer to the crust, and the varying cleavage of minerals.
