Abstract

Abstract: Cyclic diamide of o-phthalic acid (CPhDA) was synthesised in the reaction between phtalic anhydride and 1,2-bis(2-aminoethoxy)ethane in high dilution conditions and its ability to form the 1:1 and 2:1 complexes with Li+ cations was detected by ESI mass spectrometry. The 1:1 complex was obtained in the solid state and studied by X-ray diffraction, FT-IR, NMR and PM5 semiempirical methods. The structure of 1:1 complex was also studied in acetonitrile. It was found that the structures of 1:1 complex are different in the solid and in solution. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
