Abstract

The article discusses the war on predators in Alaska under Governor Sarah Palin. The war on predators broadened and included bears, skinned wolf and carcasses. In March 10, 2009, Palin's Board of Game, which creates regulations and sets policy for the state Department of Fish and Game, authorized aerial gunning from helicopters. In 2007, Palin introduced her Active Management/Airborne Shooting Bill to legalize same-day airborne sport hunting of black and grizzly bears and the selling of tanned bear hides. Other Alaska governors who sought a wider war on predators are noted. Also mentioned is the surprise air strikes by Palin in the Upper Yukon-Tanana Wolf Control Area.
