Abstract

The article presents information on the incorporation of a Socratic legal educational approach into South Korea Confucian-based law school educational structure. It is reported that on July 27, 2007, South Korea passed the Graduate Law School Act (GLSA), which introduced a new legal educational system based on the U.S.-style three-year graduate law school program. Under the GLSA, to sit for the revised Korean bar examination to become a qualified lawyer, one should be a graduate from one of the new Korean graduate law schools, which opened in 2009. The article also presents information on Japan's legal education system, and compares it with that of South Korea.
