- Proposes a structure for a crossed-laser beam, gigaelectron volt per meter gradient vacuum electron linear accelerator. Limitation of the average acceleration gradient; Discussion of similar schemes; Role of Lawson-Woodwart theorem in ruling out the possibility of net energy; Similarity of principles between mode-locked lasers and continuous wave lasers.
