Abstract

The article reports on the compensation sought by residents along Egypt's border with the Gaza Strip for property damaged by air strikes during Israel's battle against the Hamas-run territory. Governor Mohamed Abdel Fadil Shousha of North Sinai, says the Egyptian government was not responsible for the damage which was caused by Israel's assault on Gaza. According to the article, from December 27, 2008 to January 18, 2009, tens of thousands of houses in the Gaza Strip were damaged by air strikes and about 1,500 people were killed.
