Abstract

The article reflects upon the varying clinical practices of nutritional intake during labour and a study by O'Sullivan and colleagues that analyzed the effect of eating a light diet during labour on the vaginal delivery of a baby. The study showed that a light diet did not produce poor outcomes in spontaneous vaginal deliveries. The author explores the potential risk for Mendelson's syndrome and the benefits of the diet practice.
