First Report of Choke Disease Caused by Epichloƫ Typhina on Orchardgrass (Dactylis Glomerata) in China.

Abstract

The article reports on the study that examined the first reported case of choke disease caused by the fungus epichloë typhina on the crop orchardgrass or cocksfoot (Dactylis glomerata L.) in 2007 in Xinjiang, China. First signs of the disease on the crop were monitored in a grassland, which symptoms include stromata that covered the inflorescence and leaf sheath. It states that there were 99% similarity of the epichloë typhina with the same fungus found in orchardgrass in Spain.
