Abstract

This article reports on the new challenges facing the International Monetary Fund (IMF) after leaders of the G-20 decided to increase the assets of the IMF to $1 trillion during a summit in Great Britain. The IMF is tasked to bailout troubled economies and prevent another recession from happening. The author cites that the task of the IMF is politically sensitive as it involves decisions that impact the economy of countries. Brazilian finance minister said that even some rich countries are allowing IMF to review their financial systems.
