Abstract

Abstract: Novel helical platinum-acetylide polymers with high molecular weights were prepared by reacting 3,3′-diethynyl-2,2′-dialkoxy-1,1′-binaphthyl with Pt(PBu3)2Cl2 in the presence of a CuCl catalyst. The helical structure was confirmed by large specific rotation and large Cotton effect due to the MLCT band characteristic of the platinum-acetylide complex, compared to the corresponding diplatinum model complexes.
