Abstract
- The article discusses the impact of the global economic recession on the dual-executive system set up in Russia, with Vladimir Putin as prime minister and Dmitri Medvedev as president. Political and economic conditions in Russia are discussed, as is the danger that a protracted social decline could destabilize the divided executive.
