Abstract

The article presents a study comparing early administration of eptifibatide to delayed administration in patients with acute coronary syndromes without ST-segment elevation who were scheduled for an invasive procedure. Patients who were administered eptifibatide before the procedure experienced more bleeding and adverse events. The study concluded that patients administered eptifibatide 12 hours prior to an invasive procedure are at risk for bleeding that requires a transfusion, but is not life threatening.
