Abstract
- Reports on a study of the role of ghrelin in the hypothalamic regulation of energy homeostasis. Description of ghrelin which is an acylated peptide the stimulates the release of growth hormone from the pituitary gland; How intracerebroventricular injections of ghrelin strongly stimulated feeding in rats and increased body weight gain; Conclusion that ghrelin is a physiological mediator of feeding and probably has a function in growth regulation.
