Abstract

The article presents a study that examines the impact of various types and intensities of lower limb exercise on the brachial artery (BA) flow pattern. The study involved 12 active volunteers who performed cycling, leg kicking, and walking exercise. It cites that BA diameter, blood flow, and shear rate of the subjects were assessed at baseline and at three incremental intensity levels of the exercise. The study used edge detection and wall tracking of high-resolution B-mode arterial ultrasound images, combined with synchronized Doppler waveform envelope analysis in obtaining data. Discussion on the findings of the study is also offered.
