Filling A Need.

This article focuses on the decision of married couple Mike and Rachel Gooder, owners of the Plantpeddler greenhouse operation in Iowa, to become a provider of fresh, locally grown fruit and vegetables under the Northeast Iowa Food & Fitness (NIFF) initiative started by W. K. Kellogg Foundation. The practices adopted by the Gooders to become more environmentally sustainable are described. Plantpeddler's customers include its own retail market, several institutions and a number of restaurants. Information is given on NIFF.
