Abstract

The article focuses on the details being work out by German government on a plan to pool toxic assets into multiple bad banks. The preferred strategy German Finance Minister Peer Steinbrück's would see the government taking over illiquid assets and the banks slowly shouldering the bulk of risks from those that are toxic.
