There's no doubt hypertext has been an outstanding event in the cyber culture. It was by itself a very singular happening since it re-configured the conceptions of writing and reading and also allowed sharing the knowledge because it increased the interactivity and the freedom among readers and writers. However these characteristics of the hypertext have been surpassed with the increasing numbers of new tools and scenarios for the communication thru internet. In first place it comes the so called hypermedia or platforms where the structure is basically non- lineal and with an interactive design so everything goes beyond words, including images, audio, video, animations creating a whole new concept. But it is till the creation of the web 2.0 when all the educative and communicative potential of this we-based information reaches a great height. In this article we will discuss the emergence of these new technologies (blogs, wikis, portfolios) and which are the main challenges for teaching and learning. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
