Abstract

The article reports on the mixed reactions by lawmakers on the decision of U.S. President Barack Obama to place rigorous conditions on financial aid to General Motors Corp. (GM) and Chrysler LLC. The decision was based on findings of the White House auto task force that the automakers' restructuring plans were insufficient. Candice S. Miller said the task force showed they knew better how to run the organizations. Thaddeus McCotter claimed that GM was treated differently than bailed out banks.
