Abstract
- This essay discusses how processes of visual recognition and response are being reconceptualized in some technoculture contexts. It analyzes a postcyberpunk science fiction story by Ted Chiang. It situates the story's speculations in relation to contemporary developments in cognitive science, especially in evolutionary psychology. It characterizes the relationship between ethnicity and technicity as shown by the story.
