Abstract

The article discusses data on inventories in the U.S. from the Institute for Supply Management (ISM). Figures for March, 2009 showed that inventories fell to their lowest levels in over 26 years. Although that might suggest manufacturing should soon increase to replenish depleted inventories, ISM data also indicate purchasing managers believe inventories are still excessive.
