Agency, Belonging, Citizenship: The ABCs of Nation-Building in Contemporary Canadian Texts for Adolescents.

This article presents an examination into the thematic prevalence of the socio-political concepts of agency, belonging, and citizenship are manifested in Canadian adolescent literature of the late 20th- and early 21st-centuries. Questions are raised regarding the literary depiction and interaction with issues of Canadian multicultural identity, surveying ways in which its ideals and conflicts are addressed.
