Abstract
- The article reports on the potential of cave stalagmites as a source of new clues to Australian climate. It is noted that data on cave stalagmites have the capacity to assist water management in the country through improved mapping and modeling of past and future rainfall patterns. The advantages of cave stalagmites include their being well preserved and precise. The cycle of wet and dry, rather than the actual amount of rain, is provided by stalagmites that extends records of El Niño events.
