M&A Activity Level Chills.

The article discusses the weak merger activity in the chemical industry. The global economic turmoil has created a slow environment for industry merger and acquisition (M&A) as companies suffer from frozen credit markets which caused the global recession. The number and overall value of deals fell in 2008, at $40 billion. It is also noted that consumer confidence is at a 40-year low, and companies across all industries are cutting jobs.
