Abstract: The article discusses the changes of the virologic and immunological response to highly active antiretroviral interruption (HAART) resumption after treatment interruption (TI) in HIV-1. Subjects who interrupted first HAART were identified using Concerted Action on SeroConversion to AIDS and Death in Europe (CASCADE). Results show that immune reconstitution after TI is poorer after first HAART.
