Abstract

The article discusses the use of green technology in schools in the U.S. While utilizing such technology has been difficult for school districts because of the costs involved but the recession in the U.S. is encouraging districts to find low-cost green information technology (IT) solutions. Chief technology officer Chad Stevens discusses the energy-saving initiatives that he uses in his school district. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognized Seaford Public Schools in Delaware for its green initiatives which includes a climate control system that saves the school $250,000 a year on heating and ventilation costs. Rob Miller of New Canaan Public Schools in Connecticut is saving money and resources by removing printers from computer labs.
