How little is known about ghrelin, a peptide hormone acting at the growth hormone secretagogue receptor; Research by Matthias Tschop at Lilly Research Laboratories which describes the metabolic effects of ghrelin in rats and mice which, when administered peripherally or centrally, caused an increase in food intake and weight gain.
